Missions
The first women health center in Kaohsiung City: In accordance with policy for women-friendly medical environment, the Women Health Center was established to provide women with a comfortable, safe and private healthcare environment.
The first senior friendly hospital in Kaohsiung City: KMTTH provides multi-specialty clinic for elderly and establishes interventions to improve the wellbeing of seniors in hospital, such as fall risk screening and implementation of the Beers Criteria. Due to the efforts, we acquired the Award of Age-Friendly Hospitals by Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Advanced technology and equipment: To facilitate diagnosis, treatment and quality of care, advanced imaging equipment has been purchased, such as 640 slice CT scanner and 6D Axesse linear accelerator.
Outstanding minimally invasive surgery team: The team is composed of specialists of Gastroenterology & General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The multi-specialist team works together to minimize wound size and pain, reduce blood loss, and shorten length of stay in order to improve post-op condition and recovery.
Accomplishments
Improve hospital operation: Our hospital introduced various management tools to pursue continuous quality improvement. The outcome is recognized by third-party accreditation such as ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IWA1:2005, Hospital Accreditation by Taiwan Joint Commission.
Community health initiatives: We investigated the population in the service area and developed community programs to meet their needs. The program includes screening, prevention, health education and community care activities.
Medicine feature: Various cross-disciplinary teams are established to provide integrated quality care. Other than existing minimally invasive surgery team and medical cosmetic team, Joint Center, Cancer Center and Center of gastroenterology are in progress.
Enhance research capability: Our hospital is affiliated to Kaohsiung Medical University, and therefore the support of education and research is sufficient. As a certified specialty training hospital, the number of publication and cases of industry-academic cooperation is rising. For the good of further study of the causes of common disease and chronic disease, we jointed the Taiwan Biobank Project conducted by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica.
