The College of Dental Medicine includes the School of Dentistry
\nand the Department of Oral Hygiene. It was the first domestic
\ndental medical education institute of college scale in Taiwan, and
\nadvances toward the oral medical education of international
\nstandard. In teaching, the school of Dentistry stresses both clinical
\nskills and knowledge of basic science to allow students to
\nexperience clinical conditions and develop expertise in both
\ntheory and clinical skills.
\nThe establishment of the Graduate Institute of Dental Medicine
\nwas to cultivate professionals well-trained in both research and
\nmedical treatment. In addition to advancing the standard of the
\nstudy of dental medicine, the school attempts to apply research
\nresults to clinical situations. The Department of Oral Hygiene aims
\nto cultivate the ability of oral hygienic education, the ability of
\nsupporting dental treatments, prevention of oral healthcare, creativity,
\nand oral hygienic professionals with a global vision.
\nTaiwan\u2019s only Graduate Institute of Oral Hygiene aims to cultivate
\noral hygienic knowledge and research ability, analyze and improve
\noral hygienic problems of special groups, promote oral hygiene,
\nand probe into the policy and practices of oral hygiene. The College
\nof Dental Medicine cultivates the best professionals of dental
\nscience, oral hygienic policy and improvement, oral healthcare and
\nprevention of general and special groups by operation of the whole
\ninstitute, integration of technology, interdisciplinary research, and
\npromoting international academic exchange. The college provides
\nthe public with total dental and oral healthcare to improve oral
\nhealthcare and quality of life.
\nDevelopment Priorities and Future Prospects
\n1.Cultivating professional dentists and oral hygienic healthcare
\nspecialists.
\n2.Setting up three college-level research centers (Global Center
\nof Excellence for Oral Health Research and Development,
\nDental Medical Devices and Materials Research Center, and\u00a0Oral Maxillofacial Imaging Research Center) to connect with
\nthe world , promote academic research results, and cooperate
\nwith industries.
\n3.Researching the relationships between betel nut, oral cancer and
\npotential oral malignant lesions (Investigation of the mechanism
\nof oral cancer metastasis, stem cell therapy for oral cancer, and
\nthe potential of oral malignant lesions).
\n4.Investigating the factors and therapies of osteo-immunology
\nand periodontal disease, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid immune
\ndiseases.
\n5.Studies of oral anaerobes, oral microorganisms and systemic
\ndiseases.
\n6.Researching stem cell use in Dentistry.
\n7.Developing animal models of oral cancer and the potential of oral
\nmalignant lesions, and image analysis and application.
\n8.Developing high technology in the dentist field.
\n9.Promoting oral hygiene care of localized disease and epidemiological
\nstudies of oral hygiene care in the community.
\n10.Strengthening international academic exchanges.
\nWith the help of different professions in research and teaching
\nfields, the College of Dental Medicine will organize research and
