The School of Nursing aims to<br \/>\ncultivate virtuous and high-quality professionals with nursing<br \/>\nbackground to meet the special demands in Southern Taiwan. In<br \/>\norder to increase the learning channels for nurses and upgrade<br \/>\neducational level, the MS. Program- the third MS. Program in<br \/>\nNursing in Taiwan, was established in 1991. The College, the<br \/>\nsecond College of Nursing within universities in Taiwan, was<br \/>\nestablished in 1999 when Kaohsiung Medical College was renamed<br \/>\nKaohsiung Medical University.<br \/>\nOwing to the outstanding educational accountability of the<br \/>\nGraduate Institute of Nursing, ten years after the establishment of<br \/>\nthe MS. Program, the Doctoral Program in Nursing was founded in<br \/>\n2001 (the second one in Taiwan). In the same year, the Graduate<br \/>\nInstitute of Gender Studies was established (the second one in<br \/>\nTaiwan, and the only Institute of Gender Studies set up in a medical<br \/>\nuniversity.) The Institute integrates sociology and gender studies<br \/>\nto give healthcare education and research diverse perspectives of<br \/>\nthinking and resources, which multiplies and enriches teaching<br \/>\nand research approaches. This unique feature has gained high<br \/>\npraise both domestically and internationally.<br \/>\nThe Graduate Institute of Gender Studies was affiliated with the<br \/>\nCollege of Humanities and Social Science in accordance with<br \/>\nKMU\u2019s organizational restructuring in 2012. In 2013, the College<br \/>\nestablished the \u201cMaster\u2019s Degree Program in Aging and Long-<br \/>\nTerm Care\u201d to meet the demands of the elderly population in<br \/>\ncontemporary society, and to cultivate professional long-term<br \/>\ncare specialists with professional competence and humanism.<br \/>\nBased on the philosophy of \u201cHolistic Education\u201d and the vision<br \/>\nof \u201cLeading Nursing and Lon-term Care Profession in line with<br \/>\ninternational trends\u201d, the College is dedicated to outstanding and<br \/>\ninnovative teaching, research and service. Our goal is to educate<br \/>\nour students to be multidisciplined professionals and researchers in<br \/>\nnursing as well as long-term care with global views and humanist<br \/>\nvalues. The following are the developmental focal points:<br \/>\n1.Novel Teaching Facilities, Adequate Learning Space: The College<br \/>\nis equipped with specialized classrooms, such as: &#8220;Teaching<br \/>\nCenter for Basic Clinical Skills&#8221;, &#8221; Demolab for Nutriology &#8220;,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Demolab for Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing&#8221; and &#8220;Selflearning<br \/>\nComputer Center&#8221;, and regularly updates its software<br \/>\nand hardware facilities, which meet students&#8217; learning needs.<br \/>\n2.Integration of Diverse Teaching Methods into Curriculum: Our<br \/>\nteachers apply diverse methods such as Objective Structured<br \/>\nClinical Examination (OSCE), Problem-Based Learning ( PBL),<br \/>\nConcept Mapping, Interprofessional and Team-Based Learning<br \/>\n(TBL), and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in classroom<br \/>\nteaching, and create a quality learning environment that fosters<br \/>\ninteractive environment, autonomous learning, teamwork and<br \/>\ncritical thinking in students.<br \/>\n3.Active International Academic Exchanges: The College opens<br \/>\nstudy abroad courses at each academic program, and signed<br \/>\nexchange agreements with several globally renowned nursingrelated<br \/>\nacademic institutions in the United States, Japan and<br \/>\nHong Kong, for which foreign scholars are often invited for<br \/>\njoint teaching and lectures, and overseas visits and studies are<br \/>\nregularly organized to expand faculty and students\u2019 international<br \/>\nperspective.<br \/>\n4.Thorough Combination of Theory and Clinical Practice: Our<br \/>\nteachers do both classroom teaching and clinical practice<br \/>\ninstruction, to achieve the goal of emphasizing both theory and<br \/>\npractice, as well as aligning curriculum with clinical practice.<br \/>\n5.Interdisciplinary Industry-university Cooperation and R&amp;D<br \/>\nLinked Up with Practice: The College actively establishes<br \/>\npartnerships with health and long-term care institutions,<br \/>\nexpanding research resources, and developing cross-school and<br \/>\ninterdisciplinary industry-university cooperation programs and<br \/>\nintegrated research projects based on clinical practice, to<br \/>\nenhance the quality of care in clinical practice.<br \/>\nAs for the outlook, in order to secure its educational accountability<br \/>\nand cultivate professionals in line with the demands of the nation<br \/>\nand society, the College will persevere with the following<br \/>\nendeavors: Promoting course reforms, developing Interprofessional<br \/>\nteaching in a long-term care enhancing research capacity, promoting<br \/>\nindustry-university cooperative research projects; fostering student<br \/>\nrecruitment and counselling, caring for disadvantaged and highrisk<br \/>\nstudents, strengthening career counselling, increasing students\u2019<br \/>\nemployment competency, expanding international academic<br \/>\nexchange and collaboration, and finally, enlarging faculty and<br \/>\nstudents\u2019 international perspective and competitiveness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u25cfSchool of Nursing (Undergraduate, Master\u2019s and PhD Pro &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/college-of-nursing\/\" class=\"more-link\">\u95b1\u8b80\u5168\u6587 <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">College of Nursing<\/span> <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":126,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-6563","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/6563","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/126"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=6563"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/6563\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":6564,"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/6563\/revisions\/6564"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6563"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
