Non-departmental<br \/>\ninstructional units were reorganized: Physical Education Division<br \/>\nand Language Education Division were upgraded to become the<br \/>\nCenter for Physical Education and the Center for Language and<br \/>\nCulture respectively. Likewise, the Division of Humanities and<br \/>\nSocial Sciences was to become the Center for Humanities and Arts<br \/>\nEducation while the division of Natural and Applied Sciences was<br \/>\nturned into the Center for Fundamental Science Education.<br \/>\nThe College coordinates human health and welfare as the focus<br \/>\nof teaching and research, to provide impetus to the education<br \/>\nof humanities and social sciences, and to streamline researches<br \/>\nrelevant to medical humanities, healthy communities, and medical<br \/>\npsychology. We hope to educate professionals in the healthcare and<br \/>\nmedical industry, to familiarize students with theory and practice,<br \/>\nand to nurture their interdisciplinary perception in Psychology,<br \/>\nApplied Sociology and Social Work. Moreover, the College is<br \/>\nan advocator and executant cultivating our students&#8217; humanities<br \/>\nconcern.<br \/>\nThe undergraduate programs of the College center on both theory<br \/>\nand practice, engaging in students\u2019 major fields as well as those<br \/>\nof the interdisciplinary. Our graduate studies aim at educating<br \/>\nprofessionals with in-depth training in Psychology, Applied<br \/>\nSociology and Social Work as needed in the healthcare and<br \/>\nmedical Industry, strengthening the already established teaching,<br \/>\nresearch and service of psychology, applied sociology and social<br \/>\nwork in the healthcare and medical field. In addition, the College<br \/>\nsystematically cultivates students\u2019 humanistic values needed<br \/>\nin the healthcare and medical field by the design of curricula,<br \/>\narrangement of instructors, enlivening of teaching approaches,<br \/>\nand the exposure of learning through experience.<br \/>\nIn order to advance teachers\u2019 teaching strategies, the College holds<br \/>\na teaching workshop for teachers each semester to exchange<br \/>\nmethods with specialists or professors outside of KMU. In addition,<br \/>\nthe College consistently encourages teachers to improve designs<br \/>\nof courses, moreover, to create new teaching activities to enhance<br \/>\nstudents\u2019 outcome-based learning. Besides workshops, teachers<br \/>\nthemselves organize teaching groups according to subjects,<br \/>\nbrainstorming and discussing arrangements of courses as well as<br \/>\nteaching methods in the certain group, meanwhile learning and<br \/>\nencouraging each other to elevate teaching quality. As for<br \/>\nprofessional research, teachers associates with those with similar<br \/>\nprofessions in College to do research and offer professional<br \/>\nservices. In 2013 and early 2014, we respectively set up universitylevel<br \/>\n\u201cResearch Center for Nonlinear Analysis and Optimization\u201d<br \/>\nleading by the Center for Fundamental Science Education and<br \/>\ncollege-level \u201cPositive Psychology Center\u201d installing by the<br \/>\nDepartment of Psychology to integrate resources inside and outside<br \/>\nof KMU and promote cooperative research projects.<br \/>\nImproving students\u2019 humanities and characters and to create a<br \/>\nlearning environment with the atmosphere of humanism and culture<br \/>\nis the main mission of the College of Humanities and Social<br \/>\nSciences. In 2013, the College played a leading role at facilitating<br \/>\nthe policy&#8211; all freshmen as members of KMU Academy. In order<br \/>\nto facilitate the campus with a milieu of arts, the College takes<br \/>\nplan the festival of arts annually. The topics of the lectures range<br \/>\nfrom literature, history, philosophy, arts, and social issues.<br \/>\nSpecialists in different fields will be invited to give talks with<br \/>\nstudents. In order to grow students\u2019 ability to appreciate arts and<br \/>\nculture, the College has planned a series of dynamic activities and<br \/>\nart exhibitions, by which teachers and students can experience an<br \/>\nartistic world totally different from their professions.
