It has been 57 years since the establishment of Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital in 1957. It was the first medical center in southern
\nTaiwan, and the only university hospital in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung district. Besides Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, Kaohsiung
\nMunicipal Siaogang Hospital, Ta-Tung Hospital, and Cijin Hospital all form a highly efficient KMU medical treatment system. At
\npresent, the monthly average number of outpatients is about 150,000, hospitalizations number 36,000, emergencies number 7,300,
\nand the number of operations around 2,200 patients. In order to serve Kaohsiung’s citizens and people nearby, KMU will continue
\noffering high-quality medical services.<\/p>\n

anatomy and histology, becoming the first innovative operation
\ndomestically and globally. Ptosis correction rate is higher than
\nany other medical institutes in Taiwan and even that in Asia. It
\nreduces the risk of complications and has won a silver medal of
\nthe National Biotechnological Medical Quality Award in 2012.
\nBy using molecular markers of personalized medical treatment
\nfor cancer and choosing a proper treatment and dose of drugs,
\nthe waste of medical resources will be reduced effectively. The
\n\u201cDiagnostic wafer\u201d has gained multi-national patents from the
\nUnited States, the European Union and Japan, and the hospital
\nis now negotiating patent licensing and technology transfer.
\nBy improving and refining the original way of operation, using
\nautologous tissues– transverse rectus abdominis muscle flap\u2014to
\ndo breast reconstruction, over 1,000 operations have been
\ncompleted until now, possessing the most cases domestically.
\nAt a 100% success rate, this, the highest breast cancer survival
\nrate in Taiwan, won a silver medal from SNQ in 2014.
\nThe establishment of a general anesthetic without dysmenorrhea
\nrectal ultrasound prostate surgery sliced, introducing the
\nDa Vinci surgical system, elevating the quality of prostate
\noperation, the use of genetic molecular markers as a predictor
\nof early recurrence index, processes and technology to track
\nafter surgical procedures.
\nIn 2014, the hospital follows the policy of the Ministry of Health
\nand Welfare to conduct the improvement of the shortage of
\nmedical resources and doctors in the mountain villages and to
\ncare for the health of the inhabitants of the villages lacking
\nmedical resources. The hospital actively engages in international
\nmedical aid projects, organizes an international medical group,
\nsends medical staff to serve the people in the Solomon Islands
\nand other friendly allies, cooperates with diplomatic policy to
\njoin international hygienic supporting medical activities, and
\norganizes emergency humanitarian medical groups to visit the
\nSolomon Islands to cure important people; consequently was
\nawarded a silver medal by SNQ in 2014.
\nThe hospital will continue developing outstanding medical
\ncharacteristics, carry out a learning-center teaching module,
\naward outstanding research and publications, elevate patients\u2019
\nsafety and medical quality, insist on medical ethics, take social
\nresponsibility, protect Kaohsiung, step out of Southern Taiwan,
\ncross the Taiwan Straits, and win more honors for Chung-Ho
\nMemorial Hospital.

\nNew technological operations and development of the equipment
\nChung-Ho Memorial Hospital has introduced the most advanced
\nmedical operation system in the world\u2014the third generation
\nof the Da Vinci surgical system, which has super-high threedimensional
\nanalytic visual images and an accurate, delicate,
\nand reflexive controlling system. There were 295 operations
\ncompleted using this system by the end of October, 2014.
\nAhead of Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, Chung-Ho Memorial
\nHospital is the first hospital to introduce the Renaissance Robotic
\nArm System, which can be applied to every operation on the
\nvertebrae. The neurosurgery team had finished 265 operations
\nby the end of October, 2014.
\nChung-Ho Memorial Hospital has set up a complete treatment
\nprocedure of performing laparoscopic cholecystectomy
\nand developed Transumbilical single-port laparoscopic
\ncholecystectomy, which successfully cures gallbladder diseases.
\nThe number of patients undergoing this operation increases
\nannually. The number of operations has reached 500 cases
\nevery year, which is the top of domestic medical centers.
\nMedical Characteristics
\nChung-Ho Memorial Hospital is the first medical institute
\nadopting \u201cChronic Hepatitis C Individual Treatment\u201d in Asia.
\nAs a Hepatitis Center, the hospital uses personalized Hepatitis
\nC treatment, has developed the genetic test IL28B, and assists
\nin earlier assurance of the effect of Hepatitis C treatment. Its
\nservice and research energies are ahead of all medical institutes
\nin Taiwan.
\nSince 2002, Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital has tried out the
\ncomprehensive healthcare of chronic kidney disease, which
\nestablishes the Taiwan chronic kidney disease care process cum
\nhealth education mode. In 2003, the Hospital established the
\nfirst domestic kidney health promotion agency and was selected
\nas the first-level kidney health promotion agency by the Health
\nPromotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare.
\n\u201cThe Coronary Artery Disease Medical Group\u201d was set up and
\npassed the quality certificate of disease healthcare by the Taiwan
\nJoint Commission on Hospital Accreditation; in 2013, it was
\nhighly evaluated by the Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital
\nAccreditation and professional assessment and gained the \u201cCare
\nQuality Certification of Cardiovascular Disease Hospital .\u201d
