In accordance with<br \/>\nProcurement Law procedure, through open bidding, Kaohsiung<br \/>\nMedical University (KMU) obtained the first nine-and-a-half year\u2019s<br \/>\nfranchise, which is the first hospital R.O.T. case in Kaohsiung City.<br \/>\nWithin half a year, the hospital passed the regional and teaching<br \/>\nhospital evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Since<br \/>\n2006, the hospital has been evaluated as Excellence in hospital<br \/>\naccreditation every time. The hospital is assessed as an excellent<br \/>\nhospital according to Kaohsiung City Health Department\u2019s<br \/>\noutsourced business counseling evaluation. Without the sustain<br \/>\nfrom government and the limited charge as a municipal hospital,<br \/>\nit has achieved financial surplus since the third year of operation.<br \/>\nEach year, the hospital has donated NT 254 million to construction<br \/>\nfund of Kaohsiung City, building up the model of R.O.T. hospital.<br \/>\nIn June 2007, KMU won the second nine-year\u2019s franchise, which<br \/>\nis appreciated by domestic citizens.<br \/>\nKaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital(KMSH) locates near the<br \/>\nhub of transportation in Taiwan. Recently, in order to build the<br \/>\nhospital\u2019s medical characteristics and the role of the KMU system<br \/>\nas well as the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region, the hospital strive to<br \/>\nestablish a patient-centered medical healthcare team, promoting<br \/>\nintegrative medical care for outpatient and hospitalization,<br \/>\nintroducing Team Resource Management (TRM), intensifying<br \/>\noperation for patients\u2019 safety, setting up specialized medical centers<br \/>\nin four domains (environmental and occupational medicine, tropical<br \/>\nmedicine, severe and acute medicine, and community medicine),<br \/>\nimplementing distant medical healthcare projects, establishing<br \/>\nintegrated medical groups for plural severe diseases and integrating<br \/>\nsevere acute diseases.<br \/>\nBecause the hospital locates beside the three main industrial<br \/>\nareas in Kaohsiung, the hospital undertake the responsibility to<br \/>\noffer medical care for the labors there. The hospital has set up<br \/>\ncenter of environmental and occupational medicine, department<br \/>\nof integrated occupational diseases, physical examination center,<br \/>\nand department of family medicine to promote workers\u2019 health,<br \/>\nprovide integrated healthcare service, and engage in promotion of<br \/>\noccupational health. It won the SNQ in the Featured Specialty<br \/>\nSection of Hospital Category &#8211; Integrated Workplace Health<br \/>\nPromotion Service award<br \/>\nKaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital has 19 medical<br \/>\nspecialties, 492 beds, over 100 visiting staffs, and over 600<br \/>\nnursing and medical related professionals. Well-kept records are<br \/>\nmade by passionate, active, and professional team members. The<br \/>\nhospital considers \u201cthe quality medical staff\u201d as the core of<br \/>\nhealthcare and the crucial asset of medical institutes. Hence, it<br \/>\nhas set up culture developing team to promote the employees<br \/>\ncaring program by 1) encouraging employers to cultivate interest<br \/>\nin aesthetics and art, keep an exercising habit, and participate in<br \/>\nnetworking activities to relieve stress; 2) building up multiple<br \/>\ncommunicating channels and holding diverse health promotion<br \/>\nactivities by which to unite staff members; and 3) create a more<br \/>\nattractive and creative friendly and healthy workplace. Staff here<br \/>\ncan work in a safe, happy, and healthy environment.<br \/>\nKaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital carries out policies of<br \/>\nKaohsiung City Health Department, fulfils municipal hospitals\u2019<br \/>\nsocial responsibility, keeps along with the medical strategies of<br \/>\nthe medical system, and undertakes KMU\u2019s promoting tasks.
