{"id":2419,"date":"2014-02-25T09:32:26","date_gmt":"2014-02-25T01:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/?p=2419"},"modified":"2014-03-06T15:10:44","modified_gmt":"2014-03-06T07:10:44","slug":"college-of-humanities-and-social-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.kmu.edu.tw\/schoolmag\/2014\/02\/25\/college-of-humanities-and-social-sciences\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Humanities and Social Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>To take human\u2019s health and welfare as the aims of the college, to give impetus to the education of the humanities and social sciences, as well as to center on the research relevant to medical humanities, healthy society, and medical psychology.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">To educate people who participate in the healthcare and medical industry, to familiarize students with theory and practice, and develop their interdisciplinary vision in Psychology, Applied Sociology and Social Work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">To be a leading healthcare and medical professional research institute.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">To be a planner, advocator and executants who cultivate students&#8217; humanities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The College is different from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in the other comprehensive universities in the sense of the human-healthcare-oriented research and the teaching-based development. Also, it promotes the humanities and society education, and puts an emphasis on the research into medical humanities, medical ethics, medical anthropology, health society and medical psychology. KMU students majoring in the Department of Public Health are expected not only to develop the knowledge of health and medical treatments, but also to appreciate the spirit of the humanities. KMU graduates are likely to have more knowledge and experiences related to health and medical treatments than others from other universities. Our postgraduate program emphasizes the human and social issues about health and medical treatments.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080\">Missions<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>The undergraduate study of the College centers on both theory and practice, not only in its majors but also the interdisciplinary fields; the postgraduate study aims at educating professionals that are needed by Healthcare and Medical Industry related to Psychology, Applied Sociology and Social Work.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">To foster the already established teaching, research and service of psychology, applied sociology and social work in the healthcare and medical field.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">To help students cultivate the humanistic values of students belonging to the healthcare and medical field; this includes the design of courses, the allocations of teachers, the enhancement of teaching approaches, the plan of experienced learning and the like.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">The Center for Language and Culture as well as the Center for Humanities and Arts Education are responsible for the English and Chinese education of KMU students, enhancing their literary, historical, philosophical, and art knowledge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">The Center for Physical Education cooperates with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to cultivate students, including holding competitions to improve students\u2019 physical figure and nurture their exercise habit. It also helps to foster students\u2019 teamwork skills and cooperative spirit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">The Center for Fundamental Science Education places an emphasis on math, physics and information sciences, and their relevant applications.
